"I'm Not Motivated by Money" Is a Lie We Need to Stop Telling (Let's Talk About Getting Paid)
Right, we need to have a chat. And honestly? This one's uncomfortable, but we're doing it anyway.
I keep hearing the same thing from clients, friends, people in my DMs: "I'm not motivated by money." And then in the same breath: "...but I want to earn £10K more, work one less day, go fully remote, and not burn out."
Babe. That's all connected to money. And we need to stop pretending it isn't. Look, I get it. We've been through SO MUCH in the world of work that talking about money feels... icky? Selfish? Like we're somehow less noble if we admit we want to be paid well? Nah. I'm not having it.
Why this episode is essential: Simple question: Do you aspire to be a highly qualified, underpaid professional? Is that on your vision board—beans on toast and pot noodles? No? Then we need to get serious about your relationship with money and how you monetise your skills.
